My Favorite Crochet potholders

These are my favorite pot holder to crochet. Quick and easy and very functional! I use J & P Coats Speed- Cro-Sheen size 3 100% Mercerized cotton crochet thread, which is very hard to find. I have found in years past, this thread becomes available and then off the market again, so when I am able to find it, I buy it up!!  It is heavier than size 10 thread, so I adapted the pattern for this choice of thread. I have been making these 6 1/2" crocheted pot holders for about 40 years or so and often give them for gifts. I tried to sell them, but the cost of the thread was so expensive and no one would pay what I had in the cost of the thread, let alone my time. So I reserve them mostly for gifts. The cottons available now are are too soft for this pot holder.

Love them! My mom used to crochet these. I think I still have 1 or 2 green ones left. I don't use them as often anymore because they are the last ones I have from mom. She isn't crocheting much anymore because of the arthritis in her hands. At 82 she's having more fun playing with her cat, ChaCha.

Nancy, I received your request for the pattern. I modified an old pattern to be used with Speed Cro-sheen Thread that is no longer available. I bought up alot of the thread before it went out of stock. If you still want the pattern, please let me know and I will try to post it here. I do not know of any other thread that works as well as the Speed Cro-sheen. I loved it! I wish they would make it again!! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Let me know if you still want the pattern, ok??? Hugs,
