Thanks for the Tip Jodie. It sure helped when cutting my fabric for the Mystery quilt.
Why should you go around and cut from the other side? If you cut from the same side as the first cut, would that make a difference?
I can't view the video on cutting straight strips I just get a square block with and x in the left hand corner
great tip, thanks Jodi
tThere are two ways to do it. Marianne puts a ruler on the fabric and matches the folded edge, than takes another and butts it up off the fabric, removes the first one, and cuts. Then you can keep cutting. I find two rulers too much to deal with. Might have something to do with having to cut before the kitties show up...
Perhaps I need to do another video to show the two ways??? Votes???
I too cannot view the video's ! Is there something in my computer that i can adjust ? I feel that i am missing out on a lot of good tips.
I am unable to view the videos also. I have an IMAC. What can I do to view them?
I would love to watch the video but the screen is not big enough. All I can see is the lady standing looking down and telling you what she is doing. It looks to me like the camera person wasn't following her hands.
jodie, sometimes it doesn't pay to be a sheep. years ago, i was taught to cut from the selvedge edge and i have done it that way ever since. well, duh, it makes way more sense to line it us and cut from the fold. thanks. gini
Gini, the seledge edge is more stable, so especially when cutting borders that's a smart way to go.
Sandyrex--PLEASE call the number at the bottom of every page of bith QCA and QNNtv.com. Tiffiny and her staff--which has just been expanded--will be happy to help you. There are a lot of variables in play with computers and videos. They have come across just about any scenario.
Thanks for the info, I never thought to realign the fabric, how dumb is that? Thanks, Jeannie
Thanks for the info. Bev
Can't view the video
Great hint about turning the cutting mat. I always turned the fabric around on the mat, but turning the mat certainly makes more sense. Thanks much.
I have always cut stips from the selvage, but this makes great sense. Thank you. I have a new sewing room and put the cutting table as a peninsula. Love it that way.
I, too was unable to view the video and only got a blank square. Would it be possible for this to be re-sent?
Can't view the video!
Hi! Would love to see the video- any chance of uploading another one please?
I could not hear a word that was being said. I had all the volumes up to maximum and still nothing. What else should I have done? I had no problems with two other videos I watched prior to this one.
Thanks Jodie, I GET CARELESS SOMETIMES AND YOU HAVE THE PERFECT SOLUTION FOR ME.
I cannot view the video using Google Chrome - but I can when I use Internet Explorer 8.
The camera person needs to follow her hands, not her face. That is pretty but not as informative!
If you click on the bottom right of the screen it will enlarge the pitcure. If you say no to the security warning the pitcure will come up at least it did for me.
Thanks for the tip Jodie. I am new to quilting and a friend showed me how to use 2 rulers but that was a bit much for me too. I am anxious to try the technique you showed. Renee
i can not view this video either, i have a mac too. i am missing out on something i paid for. can i get some advise on how to view this video. all the others are just fine except for this set of videos. thanks
No sound on this one either.
Thank you for the tip Jodi, I too plan on trying this. :-)
Thanks Jodie, Your way is superior. You will come out with perfect strips, I like to use strips in quilting and
instead of using jellyrolls, it is good idea to use up some of the surplus material you have on hand.
Thanks Jodie......I am new at quilting and a new member. Hope this gets me going on the right path anyway .
Thanks, Jodie for being clear and concise. I would like for you to do the double ruler method, please. I have to admit that I probably will do it your way, but I like the idea of having an option. :0)
I can't seem to get the videos!! :-( I have a MAC - does that matter?
I joined the Club to find some different methods to make quilts easier and faster. I am home-bound and wanted to see the videos to speed up my quilting. Thank you for the tips.
I, too, had a blank square. I double clicked on the upper right hand corner of it and, zowie, up came the video. Hope it works for you.

Just joined today and found the answer to my question! I prewashed my fabric and was at a complete loss as to which way to line things up to get started. Couldn't remember how the selvedge went when purchased. Thanks.
I just joined today and viewed this video and now I have a question. I made a quilt using the Yellow Brick Road pattern and in that pattern it had me square up and cut strips from the left side of the fabric. Is there really any difference or can I continue to do this that way? I am right-handed but learned that way. If is incorrect I would like to know now so I can get in the right track. Thanks so much.
