This book is so much more than a book of quilt projects. Written by Karen Dever, the book is dedicated to all the servicemen and women of the past, present, and future as they protect our country.

This book includes instructions for seven different projects. The projects are everything from table toppers to wall hangings to lap quilts to samplers. The blocks are both pieced and paper pieced, so there is something for everyone. If the history of a block is known, it is stated, and all illustrations are in color.

As a touching tribute, the book also contains photos of soldiers and sailors whose family members had a hand in contributing to this book.

The blocks are also suitable for a Block of the Month program, and Karen details what is needed. Also included is a list of organizations distribution quilts to our military.

Ask Kaye...

Jean asks: Just a quick question. I made 1 quilt with Kaye's pattern the 6 HOUR QUILT. I want to make another one but this one about queen size. Can i cut the strips 12" wide without a problem to the quilt pattern?

Kaye answers: 6 inches is close to the maximum width you should use. If you use 12" wide strips, you will have to quilt the strips to keep the batting from shifting. It will take lots more time than 6 hours if you also have to do lots of quilting stitches.

	Show & Tell... I made my granddaughter a quilt for her twin bed and gave it to her for Christmas in 2004. I couldn't find a picture to send you so went to their house with my camera. She now has a queen sized bed and has figured out how to use her quilt sideways on that bed. It was the second quilt I ever made....Jane

My favorite thing to do is to recycle men's shirts into scraps for quilts. I buy them at yard sales, cut them into charms and them store them in bins until I am ready to use them....Lisa

February's Project/Contest...

We've got a few projects being submitted, don't miss out on this one!

Send in pictures of your quilts, wallhangings, pillows, placemats, tablerunners... whatever you've made using Kaye's Shapes, Tools and Templates. Get creative! Just because it's a quilt pattern doesn't mean it has to end up as a quilt! This contest will end on Feb 28, so hurry! Don't think you can make the deadline? That's ok, keep sewing because we'll offer this again during the year!
