Twist and Tote Pattern
Twist and Tote Bag is a multi-tasking table runner that twists into a stylish tote bag. Or think of it as a diaper bag with a built-in changing pad. Or a lunch bag that cleverly unfolds into a place mat. Or a quilt class tote that unzips into a pressing pad! Or, or, or, or.....
A detachable shoulder strap and two easy-to-sew zippers make these transformations possible. A tie closure and decorative pinwheel border keep it simple and stylish.

Let's say you want to use your daytime bag to go traveling and need room for some extras such as makeup and medicines. The "Plump Bottom Bag" hides a zipper (easy-to-sew method!) that expands the walls of the bag to accommodate more than you might expect. Pattern from Kaye Wood Quarter Quilt Series. Follow the Squares. I slipped on a leaf and hurt my leg, had to stay home as I wasn't able to drive or walk very far, made this quarter quilt in five days for my husband Christmas gift, sooo fast and easy. Did You Know....
You should always sign and label your quilt? If by chance it gets lost or stolen, these little things can make a big difference when it comes to retrieving your quilt! Here are a couple of tips.
Sign your quilts in a hidden place. If someone steals your quilt, they will surely try to remove your identifying label. If you sign your quilt in a hidden place, you can still ID your quilt if need be. Some places you might try is under a hanging sleeve or in the seam allowance. Permanent marker works well and should be hidden enough not to be noticed unless you need it to be. Just don't forget to write it down in your quilt journal or quilt documentation, where it was you put it.
Label your quilt. Attach your label before it is quilted so the label is also quilted into the fabric. If someone attempts to try and remove it, it will be hard without damaging the quilt.
When you do the backing of your quilt, piece it. People might be able to describe the front of your quilt to try and claim it as their own, but may not pay attention to the fact that it's pieced in the back. This will make it harder to describe unless you are the one who made it! When you take pics of your quilt, don't forget to take one of the pieced backing.
You may not ever lose or have one of your quilts stolen, but it is better to be safe than sorry. The best way to do this is to be prepared. If it does happen, all of these things will make it that much easier to track down and claim your quilt if it is found.
Reader's Hints, Tips and Techniques....
I've just discovered pins with flat heads. Oh gosh, they are so great if you ever want to iron or rotary cut anything while it's still got pins in it....Sylvia

The breeze is chilly and the woods are bare, save for the evergreens. The smell of woodsmoke is heavy in the air and I just know that when I wake up tomorrow morning it's going to be 2012 already.

Reader's Hints, Tips and Techniques....
My best quilting tip would have to be not to mix different brands of rulers when cutting fabrics for your quilts. It may seem trivial, but doing this may affect how your pieces fit together. I always use my 1/4 inch sewing machine foot and I press as I go.....Annette

About Thread....
Specialty threads are wonderful to use when you want a different look and texture to your project. With all the beautiful colors, thread can really make your work stand out and be noticed. But as with most things, you have to play with them a bit to get used to them, and find out what works best to get the maximum success. Here are some things that might help you. Plan on adjusting your tension and needle positions. Most of the time this will have to be done, and don't be afraid to try different settings! The look and effect will vary and you might find a new one you like. When you do find one that pleases you, jot it down along the with settings. That way you can refer back when necessary. Take it slow, it's not a race and specialty threads are a bit more challenging to work with. Check your needle to make sure it's big enough to accommodate your thread and sharp. Specialty threads don't have to be a headache, if you remember to have a little patience and find the best settings for you.
