Hi Quilters!

The Quilting, Stitches and Crafts Expo is coming to Reno on June 30-July 2, 2011 at the Nevada Conference & Exhibit Center in the Grand Sierra Resort. I hope you will join me there. My booth is #516.

The day before the show you can take my Teacher Certification class.
Learn hands-on Kaye's original techniques for easier and more accurate quiltmaking.
Teach your students how to eliminate the slow-downs. Register for this class at www.qscexpos.com

After certification, you set up your own classes and set your own fees.

Then, on June 30, the fun of the Expo starts. There are lots of hand-on classes, lectures and different events during the day and fun-filled evening shows. Several of the teachers have been on my TV show, Kaye's Quilting Friends. These shows are always like a reunion. It is a great place for you to get autographs and photos for your next "celebrity" quilt or wallhanging. The vendors are all my friends and they want to be your friend also. That's what quilting is all about.

Each day of the show I will be doing two seminars (lecture/demos):
How to easily match those points in patchwork, usually without pins.
How to incorporate Fussy-cutting into your quilts.

Register at www.qscexpos.com

And if Reno is out of the question, you might want to join me in Fairbanks, Alaska in August or on an Alaskan cruise in June 2012.

Hope to see you somewhere.

Kaye On TV....

We get a lot of phone calls and emails asking where to find Kaye on their TV. The simple answer is we don't know, (sorry). Here's what to do. Call your PBS, cable and satellite providers and ask them. If they don't show it, ask them to add it to their lineup. Our shows are called Kaye's Quilting Friends and Quilting The Kaye Wood Way.

We Wanted To Know About Thimbles, and you told us!

You run the gammut from not liking or needing one, to leather, steel (with and without indentations). Even wooden ones. One reader has an extensive collection and not only displays them, but uses them too!

One reader even sent in her version of the origin of the thimble! Thanks, Joanne!

The origin of the thimble is believed to be Dutch and originally was worn on the thumb, probably by tailors. The English pronunciation of thumb-ball became thimble. Other nationalities transferred it to the index finger where most often worn today.

I think we've created a monster! See our new "logo"? Well, awhile back, on Facebook, there was a time when everyone changed their profile pics to their favorite cartoon character, and this was Kaye's. She's liked it so much that she's keeping it. So, here's a special thanks to the folks at Looney Tunes who created the Tweety Bird and Sylvester cartoon for "Granny"!

Have a great week from The staff at Kaye Wood, Inc!
