My friend came out to "supervise" and laugh with me. I got all the blocks sewn together and 2 of the 3 borders! It's looking good for a first quilt. It did get silly at times, lots of laughter.

So what did I learn? Several things.

1.) Pay attention when pinning and sewing the blocks together. Yep, I ended up sewing a row upside down! LOL Both of us just looked at each other and pretty much did a face palm. SO! We corrected that little problem and all the rows went to gether well.

2.) Good cutting pays off. We hardly had to do any squaring off! I was so surprised.

3.)Take your time sewing. I'm not a fast sewer and I really watch to make sure my fabric doesn't travel away from me. My sewing area is not set up the way I want it yet so I had to make sure the fabric wasn't getting messed up while sewing it. It worked because when we measured the sides and top everything was equal! YAY! We didn't have to do any stretching or squaring at all.

4.) When you get tired STOP! By the end of the day my eyes were ready to fall out of my head and I couldn't think. I ended up sewing one of the borders pieces to get the right length 4 times. Yes, 4 times because I had to rip it out and try again. LOL Finally I told my friend: YOU SEW THIS PLEASE I CAN'T SEE! She laughed, sewed that 1 piece then handed it back to me to finish the last border.

After my last mess up we decided to wait to finish the last border piece until another time. That will take place in a week since I'm leaving for Illinois. It was a fun time and I'm thrilled with my quilt. I can't wait to finish it and start another quilt.
