You're Invited to a Virtual Quilting Open House

Did you know that there's a virtual quilting world where quilters the world over meet as if in person? There sure is, complete with shops and museums. It's a dream of a town! And we virtual quilters are inviting you to an open house to show you what we're up to.

Visit this Saturday and you can win prizes including a dream "suitcase" of every color of Aurifil's 50 weight thread. Yummers!

Oh my! Pat Sloan is donating prizes, Deb Luttrell from Stitchin' Heaven, Marianne Byrne-Goarin from the Cinnamon Patch and a more.

Short story: You sign up for Second Life, download the software (you need a fast computer--this s a 3D world) and create a free login. You then choose an avatar which is you as represented in this virtual world. (We all get plain Jane ones to start. Shopping for clothes, etc. comes later.) Then you teleport to the special skybox we've built for this special occasion and we catch you there and guide you.

So here are the details:

What: Open House to meet the Quilters in Second Life.. hosted by Alex of Aurifil, Pat Sloan, Marianne of the Cinnamon Patch in Fance and Jodie Davis of QNNTV!
When: Saturday, December 19
Where: Second life Caravane ( 145/99/32 )

In order to participate in the contest join us at Caravane City, the 3D Quilters Village in Secondlife and leave a Notecard in the WIN-BOX with your first and last name & email & country ( addresses will be requested later only for winners )

Notecards will be accepted on Saturday December 19 between 6 PM ( GMT+1 ) to 11.59 PM ( GMT +1 ) ……this will mean 11 AM ( GMT-6 ) to 5 PM ( GMT -6 ) in Chicago .

At the end of the open house We will pick the lucky winners... what fun!

There will be a few of us at the open house to help you.. we'll also have Facebook open so you can send us a message there if you need help.

We have set up a skybox with our Christmas Studio and you can visit it now if you want to practice.

That's the QNNtv set in our skybox. I'm (Santa hat) with Jackie (in white) and Marianne (in red) and Matt who lost his hair tryng to get a Santa hat on. I'm going to be reporting-as my avatar-during the event. (Fingers crossed it'll work. I have a few days to practice.)

What amazes me is how I truly feel I'm with Alex and Pat and Marianne, even though we are continents apart, when we're together in Second Life.
