&lt;p&gt;Ardis Butler James passed away on July 7, 2011. She is remembered and mourned by her family and many close friends. Her contribution to the world of quilts remains as her great public legacy and will live on in the presence of the International Quilt Study Center &amp;amp; Museum and all its collections, research, exhibitions, and study. She and her husband Robert donated the first 1000 quilts to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, creating the impetus for the development of the center. The couple was inducted into the National Quilters Hall of Fame of July 16, 2011. A public memorial service will be held at the museum on October 15 , 2011 at 2:30 PM.
