I have sooo.. many pieced tops that I have not gotten quilted. I'm sure there are others in the same boat as me. What a blessing this would be for me! Outside of winning the lottery, I will never have enough cash to purchase so winning one would be the berries. Thanks for the chance!

Hello Again!

I have not been around for quite awhile. Life got kind of hectic and crazy but is much calmer now. At my last post my son graduated from police academy, college and then got married all in a 10-12 month period! He is now a enjoying a profession as a sheriff's deputy. I have continued quilting and sewing as that is what alleviates stress for me. My job as a sonographer (ultrasound technologist) can be stressful at times so quilting makes me focus and melts away those stresses we sometimes just can't avoid. I am a member of the Maple Leaf Quild Guild in Goshen Indiana , Indiana State Quilt Guild and am also part of the American Sewing Quild. I attend two different neighborhood groups near my home. Do some of you belong to different guilds or stick to just one? I am not a really experienced quilter but love to try new things. I have taught techniques I have learned to others but am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. I have been sewing since around 4 years of age as my mother had to keep 3 young girls( my twin sister and a sister 2 years younger) busy while she sewed. Mom is very talented and can do anything she puts her mind to. Mom owned her own Cake Decorating and Catering business for many years and has such natural talent. I wished more of it had rubbed off on me. My twin sister has that talent as well. My younger sister can sew but chooses not too. She loves photography better than crafty hobbies. My mom, twin sister and I get together for "sewing days" whenever we can. Do some of you sew or quilt with your families as well? I think that sewing and quilting is making a huge comeback with the younger generation. Crafting is becoming very popular as well. I think we all like the idea of having something whether it is jewelry, purses, clothing, etc. that is unique and "one of a kind". Are there others who agree? I would love to hear from others and broaden my group of crafty friends!

Hello!

I haven't written lately as work has kept me extremely busy. My mother, twin sister and I finished piecing our mystery quilt projects. The mystery quilt project was created by my sister to keep all 3 of us gals connected last winter while mom was wintering in Florida. Mine uses soft greens, pinks and creams with a rose motif. I will post a picture once I get it quilted. Mom has returned to Florida for this winter so we are on to a new project. A quilt called "Somewhere in Time". I am making mine out of fabrics from the Quest for a Cure line from 2007 called "Heaven on Earth". Mom will be the moderator this year. As most quilter's, I have several projects going right now. I am working on a batik butterfly quilt, a homespun crazy quilt and a quilted tote bag. I also started a guild challenge my quilt guild began a few months ago. Members of my guild blindly chose a crayon out of a tin box and must creat a quilt using the name of the color of the respective crayon. Mine is Silver and I am designing a wallhanging/lap quilt using fabrics dedicated to the "Silver Screen Movie Era". It is helping to stretch my skills at design which is something I am very new at. I have also taught a skill to two of the neighborhood chapters of the American Sewing Quild of which I am a member. One chapter has several very seasoned sewers and quilters while the other is made up of new sewers. So much FUN! I wish I had more time to create but spend as much spare time as possible. My stash is huge and keeps growing and I have projects coming out of my ears. I still can't resist a good shop hop!
