Quilt for Niece completed.

I finished another ufo, which I've been calling the pink and green quilt. I am changing its name to 'Girly' quilt. I used Jenny Doan's You Tube tutorial on 3 dudes quilt to make the center. The plan was to make the whole quilt that way. But it needed some lightening up as there is too much going on . When I came across the 'Whimsy Wiggly' pattern on Moda Bake shop, I knew that design would be perfect to mellow this quilt. Added a border to anchor everything down and I am pleased with the result although I I messed up on couple of spots. Didn't catch it early enough to redo those mistakes. Hopefully it doesn't ruin the overall look.

End of year

Its almost the end of 2013 and so much more to do. So many UFO's and so many projects that not yet started. Is there an quilty abbreviation for not yet started like NYS or something?  Have you ever started a project that was not on your to do list, when you have numerous projects on your list? I think I have done more of that this year. Nevertheless I learned a lot of technique and improved my skills and most importantly enjoyed sewing them all. Now 2014 is going to be a good one, I can feel it in my bones. Already started a project list for the smooth sailing of the year and there is 19 more days to get some UFOs done for this year.

Below are some of my projects that was not in my 2013 list.

String of Pearls quilt top and Pieced back

The 'String of Pearls' quilt below was made following Christa's quilt along from christaquilts.wordpress.com.

This is the pieced backing for the String of Pearls quilt.

Labeling quilts.

Can anyone give me the abc's of labeling a quilt? I do not have a machine that does lettering so I was wondering how to label, what pen to use if writing it on the quilt itself and few other questions are lingering in my mind. Will appreciate any suggesstion.

Pieced backing

I finally decided to do a pieced backing for my niece's quilt. Its about time I complete this and send it to her before she is too big for the quilt. I am happy with the design for this backing.

Quilt for my Niece

I started the quilt using pink and green strips from Moda's gypsy girl jelly roll.  The quilt top is done. May be I should add a border. Not sure what backing to use.Hope fully she can use it for years to come. As soon as I done with this quilt should begin a quilt for her sister. I want to do a chevron quilt for her.
