A whirlwind of activity in the world of quilting has delayed this update on our Quilts for Japan drive. Fortunately, many of you were not been too busy to send quilts – hundreds of quilts. We have two offices and two cubicles piled high with boxes of Quilts for Japan. Your outpouring of love is overwhelming.
In the weeks and months ahead, we will share the many stories of these quilts, show you photos of some of them, and tell you about the women and men who made them and the incredible efforts many made to personally deliver them to our offices. We will soon be opening the boxes, sorting the quilts and repacking them for shipping to Japan, all in time for them to arrive there at the time requested. When I say “we” will do this, the truth is those of us at Quilters Newsletter will be seeking volunteers to join us. So watch for our call out to volunteers in the next few weeks. If you live near our Golden, Colorado, offices, we hope you will join us.
In the meantime, we want you to have some fun guessing how many quilts we've received. Remember, we don't even know the total count yet. So we are inviting you to guesstimate the number. Check out the photos of our storage spaces then send us your best estimate.
That's two different offices and two different cubicles, in case you are wondering.
Once all the quilts are counted, there will be prizes for those closest to the actual count. We are not the Price is Right, so you can be above or below the number and have a chance to win. We'll be announcing the prizes soon but we promise if you're a quilter, you'll like the prizes. One rule to follow: Do not repeat a number submitted by another reader. Only the first person with a number will be eligible to win. Send your estimate by June 15.
Thank you to all you responded to our call for quilts. You are AMAZING!
