A contest for hand quilters

When I announced the June/July issue, I told you there would be a lot of hand sewing articles and patterns and thus some hand sewing giveaways. Well the time has arrived.

We get all sorts of items from manufacturers hoping to be in our Staff Picks section. Most of these new gadgets are for machine piecers and quilters, but every now and then we get some nice hand-sewing products. They've been piling up in my office and this week I want to send them all out the door to you!

Each prize will have its own question associated with it. So figure out which prize you'd like to win, pick up your June/July issue, find the answer to the question and post it in a comment below.

Please only answer one question. If you answer more than one you'll be disqualified.

Here they are!

1) Every appliquer knows you need a wide variety of thread colors. These beautiful collections from Amy Butler and Kaffe Fasset provide shades that harmonize with each designer's fabric lines. For a chance to win one of these collections, tell me where our Meetin' Place quilter from the June/July issue lives – city and state. There will be two winners.

2) Hand quilting requires good lighting. We have two beautiful hand-quilted quilts in our issue this month. Tell us the names of both quilters of these hand-quilted beauties, and you might win this Mighty Bright light. We featured this item back in June/July 2010. It can be operated by 3 AAA batteries or electrically and features a magnifier. It can also clip to your quilting hoop.

3) I don't know about you, but my hands always seem to get sore when I'm binding a quilt. Something about holding it just makes them ache. I think one of these crafter's gloves might make all the difference. Featured in our August/September 2010 issue, these gloves provide support to your hands and wrists while crafting. To win one of these gloves, tell us the name of the pattern mentioned in the feature Zen and the Art of Binding. There will be two winners.

4) Straight pins, needles and safety pins are invaluable to a quilter, but no fun to step on. We have four adorable little pin cushions to give away to four lucky winners. If you'd like a chance to win one of these cuties, just tell us the name of any one of the embroidery stitches used in Bling Bling Snowflake.

That's it! Choose a prize, answer the question and hope for the best. This contest is open until Friday June 17 at 4:00 PM MDT. People who have won in the past 3 months are not eligible to win.

Good luck!
