We're excited Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) is coming to Colorado for its annual visioning conference for many reasons. Key among them is the opportunity for Quilters Newsletter to work with SAQA to be host to a unique exhibit. “Sightlines,” an invitational exhibit by 14 artists from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States, debuted at the 2010 International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. The April 19-June 30, 2011, exhibit at our Creative Crafts Gallery will be the second time this body of work has been available for public viewing.
Among the 14 artists is Colorado's own Regina Benson, who is taking the lead in helping us hang the exhibit. We are grateful she's close by because hanging the show is a challenge. Each artist created a large piece–some of these are composed of several pieces hung together–and four 8” x 8” pieces. By hanging all the small pieces at the same level, the works by the various artists become visually connected forming a “sightline” that runs across the entire exhibit. This is a must-see exhibit. We invite you to visit our gallery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Just drop by 741 Corporate Circle, Suite A, Golden, Colorado 80401.
