I also plan to post some pictures of my quilts, and maybe talk about some things I have done to make quilting more fun. I hope you will feel free to post suggestions and ideas that might be helpful, or just leave a comment.

I have been watching videos to learn how to use different rulers. I could not figure out how to get the measurements for flying gueese and am going to buy a at least one flying gueese ruler and attempt them. I love the quilting videos I have been finding and learning how to use a number of rulers. I will be shopping for some rulers real soon. I recently bought a swivel cutting board and it is great for cutting pieces for blocks and squaring them up on it. Yes, I have even learned to square up my block sections and not wait untill the block is completed.

A friend helped me get started quilting, and she and I are making blocks and sharing them. We made blocks for a red, white and blue patriotic quilt. I have the fabrics for sashing and bordering it and just need to get busy cutting that and sewing my top together. I haven't been in a hurry as I have a quilt in the frame now. We are also making blocks for another quilt now. It is black, white and another color. We have half our blocks made for that quilt.

Nearly 30 years ago my husband got a new job putting us about 350-400 miles from each other. With the internet and e-mail, we picked up a close relationship again. Then came instant messenger and now web cam. Now we visit on IM, but when we have time get on skype and quilt together, she on her quilt, and me on mine. It is the next best thing to actually being together. We can not believe it when we have been quilting and visiting for sometimes 3 hours at time. And it really helps to get the hand quilting moving along.

I just wanted to let you know how I got started quilting and thought this might be a good way to sort of introduce myself. Check back anytime and I will try to post some quilts and tell each of their stories.
