Working With Browsers

Here are some browser tips on clearing the cookies, clearing cache or temp files or changing the security level for some of the more popular browsers:

Clearing your cookies

Internet Explorer 7

  1. Once your browser is open, select the Tools menu and click Internet Options and select the General tab.
  2. To delete all cookies, in the Browsing History section, click Delete....
  3. Then click Delete cookies....
  4. Click Yes.
  5. If you wish to delete only specific cookies and keep others, instead of Step 2:
    1. Click the Settings button, then click View Files.
    2. Scroll through the list and select the cookies you want to delete.
    3. Multiple cookies can be selected by holding down the CTRL key while clicking.
    4. Press the Delete key.
    5. Press OK on any dialog boxes that appear.

Internet Explorer 8

  1. Once your browser is open, select the Tools menu and click Internet Options and select the General tab.
  2. To delete all cookies, in the Browsing History section, click Delete....
  3. Uncheck the top Preserve Favorite Website Data box.
  4. Then check the box next to Cookies.... Check the other boxes at your own discretion.
  5. Click Delete.
  6. If you wish to delete only specific cookies and keep others, instead of Step 2:
    1. Click the Settings button, then click View Files.
    2. Scroll through the list and select the cookies you want to delete.
    3. Multiple cookies can be selected by holding down the CTRL key while clicking.
    4. Press the Delete key.
    5. Press OK on any dialog boxes that appear.
  7. Or
    1. Hit Ctrl+Shift+Delete.
    2. Click Delete.

Firefox 3.0

  1. Once your browser is open, select the Tools menu and click Options... and select the Privacy tab.
  2. Click the Show Cookies... button.
  3. To delete all cookies click the Remove All Cookies button.
  4. To delete specific cookies, click View Cookies and look through the list of the sites you wish to delete the cookies for, and press Remove Cookies. You can even expand each site to delete specific cookies from each site.

Firefox 3.5 & 3.6

  1. Once your browser is open, select the Tools menu and click Clear Recent History
  2. Select a timeframe from the Time Range to Clear dropdown menu. It is generally best to select Everything.
  3. In the details list, make sure Cookies are selected. If you also want to clear your cache, make sure that is selected as well.
  4. Click Clear Now.
  5. To delete specific cookies, you will need to go to the Tools menu and click Page Info, then click the Security tab. Click View Cookies and look through the list of the sites you wish to delete the cookies for (you may have to remove the text in the Search field for this), and press Remove Cookies. You can even expand each site to delete specific cookies from each site.

Google Chrome

  1. Once your browser is open, press Control + Shift + Delete.
  2. Ensure that delete cookies is selected.
  3. Click clear browsing data. Alternatively you can click the spanner icon in the top left, select clear browsing data and repeat steps 2 and 3.

Mac Users, click Chrome in the top menu and choose Clear Browsing Data... or press "Command+Shift+Delete" Then check the Delete cookies and other site data Then press the Clear browsing data

Safari

  1. Go to the menu labeled "Safari"
  2. Select the sub-menu "Preferences ..."
  3. Select the "Show Cookies" button
  4. Select all the remaining cookies showing in the window and click "Remove All"

Clearing cache/temporary files

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools in the upper toolbar or click on the Tools icon.
  3. Click Internet Options and choose the General tab.
  4. Click Delete under "Browsing History".
  5. Click Delete Files under "Temporary Internet Files".
  6. Click Yes on the Delete Files dialog box.
  7. Click Close and then OK.

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools in the upper toolbar or click on the Tools icon.
  3. Click Internet Options to open Internet Properties.
  4. Click the General tab
  5. Click Delete under "Browsing History".
  6. Click Delete Files under "Temporary Internet Files".
  7. Click Yes on the Delete Files dialog box.
  8. Click Close and then OK.

 

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 - 3.6

  1. Click Tools in the upper toolbar and select Clear Recent History.
  2. Select the Time Range to clear (drop-down menu).
      - Select Everything to clear all cache.
  3. Click Details to choose what history elements to clear.
      - e.g. cache and cookies
  4. Click the Clear Now button.
  5. Exit and re-launch the browser.

 

Mozilla Firefox 2.0 - 3.0

  1. Click Tools in the upper toolbar and select Clear Private Data.
  2. Check Cache and cookies.
      - Note, you can select other data you would like to clear as well
  3. Click the Clear Private Date Now button.
  4. Exit and re-launch the browser.

 

Safari 4.0

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click on Tools (gear icon) in the upper right toolbar and Select Reset Safari.
  3. Click Empty Cache and Remove All Cookies.
  4. Click the Reset button.
  5. Exit and re-launch the browser.

Changing the security level

If you are unable to view some elements of the site, watch some of the videos, or install/update Flash Player. You may need to lower your security settings.

Steps to check your security level:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click 'Tools'
  3. Click 'Internet Options'
  4. Click the Security tab and make sure the setting is 'Medium-high' or below. A 'High' setting will block all flash content on a website.
  5. If the level is set to 'High', click and hold your mouse on the slider and drag it down to 'Medium-high'.
  6. Click 'OK'
