Did anyone go to the AQS show in Des Moines? If so, did you have a favorite designer or great bargain in the merchant mall?

Of course I went to AQS in Des Moines! (How could I not since I am a quilter and live in Des Moines!) I stopped by a number of booths, but I had the most fun with Marti Michell and Eleanor Burns. I brought many books that I had them autograph. I also brought them each a copy of the page of pictures of the ceramic tile quilt blocks of the Jacobson Exhbition Center at the Iowa State Fair Grounds. Since Eleanor had done a book on barn quilts, I thought she would would enjoy seeing it. She did appreciate the page of pictures I brought her (plus a map of the State Fair Grounds so she could find the building if she had a chance to see it.) Eleanor did appreciate the pictures, but, alas, her schedule did not permit her an opportunity to go see the newest building at the State Fair Grounds. I KNEW that Marti would really appreciate the pictures and information since she is an IOWA girl. She grew up near Des Moines and as a very involved 4-H-er, she spent a lot of time showing at the Iowa State Fair. She was really excited at the prospect of seeing the barn quilts on the building. She went out to the Iowa State Fair Grounds the very day I brought her the pictures. The next day, she told me she loved seeing it. She also had a great time walking around the fair grounds, remembering her days there.

I didn't sign up for many classes, but I really enjoyed the review where many teachers gave mini-classes.

And my best bargain? I bought a fabric bundle from Eleanor Burns. It came out to costing something like $3 per yard. Nice fabric, great price!
