For quite some time, Marianne has been on a mission to find
that certain something that could serve as the focal point for a quilt she
wanted to design for the nationwide Quilts of Valor program (see www.qovf.org for more information).
It was an antique quilt on display at the International
Quilt Study Center in Omaha, that finally offered the perfect inspiration.
"It was covered with tons of eagles," said Marianne, "I just
loved it." Marianne decided to incorporate a solo eagle motif into her
final design. The quilt also features traditional designs, variable stars,
etc., all set in fabulous shirting fabrics from Andover. She designed the quilt
to finish at 64 x 80, a suitable size for offering comfort to a hospitalized
noted that before the quilt gets presented to a soldier, it will be featured on
a future Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting public TV
show, and also shown in a future issue of the Love of Quilting magazine.
Let us know if you have ever stumbled onto that perfect 'inspiration'.
