Now, after decorating I don't want to set it up there again.

We are adding a garage to our house. We have lived in my husbands family's home for 33 years and are finally getting it done! We are also planning on remodeling the living room into a main floor bedroom. So, I am waiting to turn my daughter's old bedroom into a sewing room. The problem is, in which order and can I give up sewing that long? I have just spent 25 hours sewing 2 different blocks for a Christmas quilt. I thought our bedroom would be down stairs by this Christmas but since it isn't, I have plenty of time to finish the quilt by next year BUT! I still have 6 different blocks to sew. At this rate that will be 75 more hours and then to put it together.

Yes, I need a sewing room. I will just have to rearrange and when our current building project are completed I will actually 'build' my dream sewing room. Did I say it took 33 years to get the garage on the house?

Pie rit!

My oldest grandchildren are 4 year old boy-girl twins. Grant is named after my mother-in-laws family. We actually live on Grandpa Melvin Grant's farm. My Grant is a replica of his daddy, except he has Grandpa Terry's red hair. ALL of It!! he says. Yes, Terry is bald. Anyway, when my son was growing up, whenever he was interested he was CONSUMED with it. Grant is just like him and the latest obsession is:

PIE RITS, OK that is how he says it. Pirates! Ever since we came back from Disney he had dressed up daily as a pirate. I bought all four kids something they wanted at the Disney store as we were preparing to leave the park. He chose an $8 pirate set, gun, sword, and hook. His aunties let him pick Mickey ears hat. He chose the pirate hat and only took it off to sleep. So guess what he was for Halloween? Yes, my latest sewing project was black and white striped pants with a red belt. He found a picture of a pirate with a leather belt going across his chest holding the gun. Daddy found him a belt he could use.

My daughter-in-law laughs at pictures of my son growing up. She thought he had a Stars Wars obsession. She now understands how it happens. I think it is darling!

His twin is in to Little Bo Peep. She asked me tonight if I could make her a "Little Bo Sheep" costume for next year. It is just another break from my quilting.

I need to buy a lottery ticket!

I recently commented that I should buy kits instead of trying to find the fabric on my own and thinking I could do it cheaper. WELL! tonight I went to Mill Ends Textiles to look for drapery fabric. My daughter is the proud owner of her first home and I am going to make curtains and cover her kitchen chairs for her. Guess what I found? My Maywood fabric for only half price. Yes, the exact fabric I had not bought enough of. They also had a 60% off coupon so I bought enough fabric to make a bed skirt out of the coordinating plaid fabric. Yup! I should buy a lottery ticket.

Fishing

I am not a fisherman. My son and daughter-in-law take her parents pontoon out frequently. This past weekend we were invited along. The 4 year old twins like to fish and have caught quite a few fish, especially Grant. Izaak, almost 3, lost his rod in June. It didn't have a line or hook but he still missed it. He did get a new rod from his Auntie Taya. A Spiderman rod, but he and I were fishing with Ava's rod. He was standing and I had my arms around him. He would let the line out and I would make sure the stop was on. Then we had the hit. He was so excited. "Reel it in" He did try. We were all so excited when he pulled in nice sunfish and was beaming when We took his picture with it. But the best was when I could feel him just relax into my arms as we reeled it in and how he turned his cheek up to mine. I love being a Grandma!

Grandma Carlotta's Blog

My daughter-in-law has kept a blog about her children this past year. It is much quicker than scrapbooking. I have thought about blogging about the cute things the baby's do and say when they are with me. Ava and Grant just turned 4, Izaak will turn 3 in August and the newest, is Sydney, who was born in Feburary. They are my joy. We live in rural ND and they are only 8 miles form me. They are also on my way home from work. My hobbies have cahnged to quilting an dgrandchildren. That is about what I have time for.

Keep checking I will add more about the kids and my quilting.
