A Day in the Life of a Crazy Crafter

Just my daily ramblings of my life as a stay at home Mom and Gramma and the strugle to get it all done.

Missed a day again.  Yesterday was so busy with knitting group and then a Christmas party for my husband's company.  Today working on laundry and celebrating my son-in-law's birthday.  Working on some UFOs and stuff.  Need to clean the carpets in the living room and the downstairs room before I can decorate for Christmas.  Maybe this evening I can get to the carpets so that tomorrow we can decorate the house for Christmas.  Husband and son are making breakfast so I am going to work on laundry and UFOs for now.

So many things on December 7.  Pearl Harbor, granddaughter father's birthday, just to name a couple.  Managed to get my house cleaned this morning and make it to story craft time at the library with my little Monkey Butt.  Since she has been a pretty good girl I got to play the Gramma Card and we had ice cream for lunch but now we have to have a sandwich for dessert.  Going to take some time now and get back to work on stuff that keeps calling my name and I keep trying to ignore but my projects are now screaming at me to get them done.  Almost sounds like Larry the Cable Guy.  I think that it is almost time to get the Christmas stuff out of the attic and start with the festivities.  I am way behind it all of that and need to get on the ball.  I think Sunday we shall decorate the house and tree.  Got our new Christmas ornament for 2012 so I should be ready for all of this but the constant heat wave that is plaguing us has kind of put a damper on my Christmas spirits.  Cold front coming so that should help.  70 degree weather just doesn't say "winter" to me.

My son-in-law to be got to come home from Korea last night and I am so happy to see him again.  I am glad that he is home, I hope that he doesn't have to go back, but I am saddened about the events that brought him home.  Apparently, some guy broke into my daughter's house in an attempt to rape and worse two nights in a row.  The rental company won't fix the house or repair the door that the guy kicked in.  Luckily, she is trained by the Army and kicked him over the coffee table and would have done worse if he hadn't left.  And she has an alarm system that helped to scare him off.  So today, my house is empty because the Monkey Butt is with Mommy and Dad.  I am able to get to work on some of my crafty things that need to get done and get my pumpkin cookies with dark chocolate chips baked.  These are scary times that we live in and I wish for the ability to change the world to a peaceful and caring world for my 11 year old and grandchildren to grow up in.

With the rush of most of the December birthdays over it is now time to get into the Christmas spirit.  Christmas cards and presents in the mail, dragging out the decorations and deciding if we are going to make do with last years tree or get a nes one or even a real one.  Need to get into the kitchen and get some more baking done as well as finish up the Christmas shopping.   Going to actually get into my sewing area and get something accomplished beside just staring at all that needs to get done and feeling overwhelmed.  Just pick a job and get it done and move on.  I really need to figure out my serger.  I got this wonderful gift for my birthday and I still really haven't got to play with it because I am still trying to figure out how to get it to work right.  The tension is throwning me off.  Time to hit google on that as well as read everything I can.  Have some wonderful things that I want to make once I get it but until then...  Oh well, I am stubborn enough to do it and get some stuff made.  Next year and I have an entire plan laid out to get stuff done but right now I need to focus on the rest of this year,

Today is my husbands birthday so I got up and started baking early to get his cake finished before he gets home from work.  Still plugging away at scarves and hats and table runners and laundry and housework and kids.  Time management is the key to all of this but sometimes there feels like there is never enough time to get it all done.  So far I am already ahead of schedule and behind at the same time.  Well, I am off to get back on track and get it all done.

I missed yesterday's entry so I guess I can bore you even more with a long one today.  After a great weekend of celebrating my birthday and having a lazy day yesterday watching Lord of the Rings, which I got for my birthday, it is time for me to get back into the swing of things and start getting my holiday in order.  Tomorrow is my husband's birthday so today I am getting his cake started and off the to the post office to get the boxes to ship out the Christmas presents later this week.  My daughter in coming into town on the 20th so I really need to get in gear and get presents finished.  Sewing area is still a mess so I have to do that today.  Going to take a minute here and there to work on ornaments and scarves and hats in an attempt to finish them up.  I think that I might get the fabric cut for the table runners today.  Need to clean the carpets and work some more on home renovations.  I need to get my Christmas cards and get them ready to mail out.  I need a drink.  I can see now why they say "If you want something done, give it to a busy person"  I am busy and I keep giving myself more stuff to do.  I am running in circles so much that I am dizzy.  Need to run the other way and unwind myself.  Time to get it moving.

Sooooo, today is my birthday and I am sort of taking the day off.  I am off to my knitting group, off to get my husbands birthday present, off to buy a lamp for the living room, off towards home to make lunch for the family, off to sit in the recliner and relax, and then off to dinner with the family.  My daughter is NOT off today so we are watching the granddaughters and that is the main reason that I am making lunch.  I might get a little sewing in today, or clean up the sewing/craft area a bit and watch a movie.  Who knows.  But I get to spend today with family and friends so I am going to make the most of it.

Okay, it's Friday and I have so much to get done before tomorrow.  ORNAMENTS ORNAMENTS ORNAMENTS  Got my Amish Spread done, need to bake another batch of Mocha Chocolate Chip cookies, dip the cranberry orange biscottis in white chocolate, work on a scarf and hat set, get the table runners sewn and quilted for my daughters Christmas and did I mention make some ornaments.  Hand beaded Christmas ornaments that take 4 hours each to make and I need four by tomorrow.  And this morning is Story Craft at the local library for my granddaughter, Kayla, aka Monkey Butt,  Well, sitting here and writing on my blog is not going to get this stuff done.  So I am off.
