My Bee held a two day sew in at a near by Country Club. We go at 8:30 in the AM and tuck it in a closet at 5 PM. While there were only 12 of us on the first day we accomplished a lot. Much Much Much talking and laughing and just sharing what we've been doing and what is going on in our lives. A catchup sort of moring. Then we got to work on a project we had all agreed upon some months ago. We were given about 60 leftover insulated lunch bag containers to do something with. The request was that we cover up the name of the golf tournament and give them away. Well, we stewed some about the best way and had decided to just simply applique a piece of fabric over the logo. Someone had cut the applique pieces and some batting so all we sewers needed to do was attach it to the logo area. Not a hard job but very time consuming. So we finished all the bags that day and had a great lunch. The bags are going to the nearby shelter for the kids to carry extra food where ever they go for the day. The next day we were 8 in attendance. We did our own projects and shared information and had a good time and of course a wonderful lunch was served. Our cost for this 2 day sewin...$5 each for the room per day and the lunch we ordered from the menu.

Maybe you can pass the idea along to others.

So today has been one of the days I got a little of this and that done in the sewing room. I can't really call it a room as it's one corner of the large open space in the house. You see, we are one of those retired couples that over night tripled thier dependents. Our daughter & husband and 2 boys (8 & 11) had to move in with us. It is a bit crowed and hectic now and some days my quilting takes the back seat. In fact, my q'ing budget mostly went to purchasing extra food...these boys sure can eat! Anyway, since my room is in the busiest part of the house I have lots of interuptions and today more than usual. I did get my blocks in envelopes ready to mail for one group and 2 small, simple blocks done for another. What isn't happening is being creative...Maybe tomorrow will be a better q'ing day 'cause school starts and my daughter has a new job.
