Thea's quilting trials and tribulations.

Life teaches us many lessons! Some of the greatest lessons in my life have been taught to me by my quilts and the people that I have met through my quilting.

Scrappy stars quilt made from scraps left over from Brandon's wedding quilt

I had this quilt hanging on a hanger in my close - the stars with just the sashing - then I was stash shopping for something else and ran across that piece of star fabric and realized it was perfect for the outer border on this quilt  - so sewed it on - sandwiched and sewed the quilt together and another UFO was finished.

Wow Althea, those stars look like they could be quite challenging to make and you did a great job with the colors and piecing of them. Isn't it fun when you run across that perfect fabric out of the blue. If you had to have something right now you could look and look and still go home empty handed.

If you look at Brandon and Cassie wedding quilt - it was made from strips of fabric place in a pinwheel configuration - I had these pieces - I think they were about 5-6" long left over from some of the strips - so I sewed them into the star configuration... there were Y seams but I think this was back when I had just taken a class on Y seams or watched a video of either Eleanor Burns or maybe Kay Woods... I love that they look more complicated then they were...

can you see me - the arm is almost broken - patting self on back...lol
