Life teaches us many lessons! Some of the greatest lessons in my life have been taught to me by my quilts and the people that I have met through my quilting.

Eleanor Burn's Applique in a Day quilt.

After my friend Lori passed on from this world, I started making 2 quilts - one was EB's Basket Quilt and then this one... I thought all the time while making them about my friend... there were a lot of tears spilled on these 2 quilts but it did a great job letting me mourn - I lost myself in the work.  I gave the quilts to Lori's daughters last year.  I don't have a picture of the Basket quilt finished - thought I did - but have just pictures of the blocks... I did both in the 3D method...

I wanted to add in the picture of Baskets that I have - it was in the stage where I was setting all the Baskets up in their position so I could do the sashing...

I can't believe that I didn't get a picture of this quilt before I sent it off - but I think I was crying so much during the making of both these quilts that when they were done I just wanted to box them up and send them off... but here are all the Basket blocks on my design wall.

Althea, this is one of my favourite Eleanor Burns patterns. I've watched the show many times and bought the book earlier this year.

You did a beautiful job with this as with all your other quilts.

Thank you very much - I do not have a picture of this quilt finished - it has a beautiful final border on it - I was very overwhelmed making these this quilt and the basket quilt - they are both in NY with Lori's daughters...

awesome.   this is my favorite kind of quilt and the kind of quilt i most love to make.    i was in san jose, oh, 15 years ago, when they were having their annual show (it's in october and if you get the chance to see the show it is incredible)    they had one whole section, about 100 quilts , devoted to baltimore album quilts. sam thought he was going to have to leave me there until the show closed, he drug me out by my hair as it was.   i love your colors and  i love the sashing. i did a sashing like this on one of my quilts, and it is a delicate look that really sets off the blocks.  nice job    gini

i am not sure if you can tell from the photo but all the blocks are 3 dimensional.  you could do them either way and i decided to do them 3D.  it was a lot of fun - I learned a lot of new techniques doing this quilt - i think I did ruching in this one - if not this one it was in the basket quilt.  

I enjoyed making this quilt and basket.  I am going to do her garden quilt - where all the flowers are in vertical rows... I have all her books - and plan on making some more of her quilts to give to the girls - she makes a tough quilt easy.
