The 1st Admin Post!

Hello Quilters!

As the new admin, I would like to implement a weekly admin blog. On this forum, I will post things that are going on inside QCA, new developments, things going on with our sponsors, and a little witty humor from yours truly! Look out for this every Friday.

Mystery Quilt

The first order of business is planning the Mystery Quilt for September. In years past, it appears as if a member has designed the mystery quilt and worked with the admin to present it to the QCA community. I would like to continue this tradition. This is where I assign you an exciting task! Please DM me a pattern you have designed. I will be reviewing them, and one design will be chosen for the mystery quilt! Please submit your patterns to me by June 22nd. I am very excited to see your creativity!

Shopping for a Cause

If buying fabric is your weakness, this announcement is for you. Moda, a QCA sponsor, has announced their 15th Collection for a Cause fabric line. The fabric, Community, will be available in LQS in September. The Libby Lehman Medical Fund will benefit from the proceeds of the fabric line.

Libby is an active member in the quilting community and suffered from a ruptured aneurysm. She has been in and out of facilities and rehabilitation centers and is on the road to recovery. Moda is very proud to support her medical fund. Visit Libby's Caring Bridge page to follow her story.

Your favorite quilting show

QNNtv.com has the entire 1900 series of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting available for your viewing pleasure. The series includes tutorials on how to make piping with a serger, making a quilter's tool bag, hand stitching wool applique, and many more!

Now, for the humor...

Happy Quilting!

QCA Rachel

Oh good, a Mystery Quilt. I like the idea of members submitting patterns. How fun. I'll look forward to seeing the selection.

Welcome again Rachael.  Can't wait for the QCA Mystery Quilt.  I like doing them but I am no way experienced enough to design one so I will have to rely on my compadres to come up with that.

Welcome Rachael.  I hope this is an easy transition and that any admin problems you encounter are small ones.

The MQ idea seems to be moving forward. I have no skills to design a MQ, so will await the plan. Just hope it's not too tricky and beyond my brain cells!!

As a fairly new member (Jan 2014), I have been looking around the site for something interesting and recent.  Seems like there is a lot of old posts, and not many new ones.  I'm glad I finally found this thread, because I was wondering if there would be a MQ for this year.  I'd love to participate, and I would look forward to meeting as many other "Sew-cialists" as I can.  ;)

I definetely was a "sewcialist" today.  After getting a few nasty emails that made my heart hurt, I sat down at my sewing machine and satin stitched on my dog park quilt - talked to God and made things right in my heart!  I am so glad that we have people interested in making this site fantastic again.  I am loving reading all the new posts and seeing all the new blood coming to QCA.

God bless,

Althea

I love participating in mystery quilts!! This sounds like a great idea, especially if it is spaced out for people that are busy.

This sounds like great ideas!! I absolutely love mystery quilts, especially if they are spaced out over time for people with busy schedules, or done all in one shot over a day/weekend! Keep up the great work!
